There are a lot of project configurations in a project. Sometimes, I don't need all the configurations to be the same in different environments. For instance, I might need to exclude certain configurations, such as the database configuration or user roles and permissions.

Hi Fab (and everyone who voted), thanks for the request! Good news: since Strapi v5.51.0, you can transfer, export or import only some content types instead of the whole database.
Two new options are available for
strapi transfer
, strapi export
and strapi import
:- --only-content-types: only transfer the content types you list
- --exclude-content-types: transfer everything except the ones you list
Example:
strapi transfer --to <url> --only-content-types api::article.article,api::category.category
Good to know: with
--only-content-types
, only the listed content types are cleared and replaced on the destination. The rest of the data stays untouched.Release note: https://github.com/strapi/strapi/releases/tag/v5.51.0

We're running multiple environments and often need to make small content changes between them. Being able to partially copy data instead of copying the whole lot from one environment to another would be incredibly useful.

KiwiCoder import export entries plugin is not being maintained anymore. I was able to fix the errors with the current version of Strapi but it fails for import/export collections with relations to other collections as well as certain content types.

This! Honestly can’t belive this proposal isn’t more popular.
Our use case:
We host multiple strapi instances with identical schemas to keep them isolated for easier content management. However, there are cases where we would need to share certain entries between instances. It would be great if the transfer funcion would support partial copy where you can select certain pieces of the content to be copied, with all corresponding relations.
